How We Approach Repiping

Every repiping job starts with a thorough evaluation of your plumbing system to identify leaks, pressure problems, and signs of corrosion before any work begins. We aren’t interested in selling you solutions you don’t need, so you can expect an honest assessment of your piping. Our plumbers can walk you through our recommendations and answer any questions you may have.

We will identify the type of material your pipes are made of. If your plumbing is still running on galvanized steel or polybutylene pipes, we will typically encourage you to upgrade your system with today’s most trusted materials, like PEX or copper, for better water pressure and long-term durability.

The truth is, not every home or commercial building needs a full repipe. Our repiping contractors can identify problem zones and offer targeted pipe replacements where they’re most needed, whether it’s in a kitchen or bathroom.

If your home has aging, corroded, or frequently leaking pipes, a whole-home repiping is likely the best path forward. Postponing a necessary whole-home repiping dramatically increases the risk of significant and costly damage. You will likely experience continual leaks or even burst pipes, which can cause water damage to your walls, ceilings, and flooring. This can also lead to mold growth and expensive structural repairs. Deteriorating pipes also severely restrict water flow, resulting in consistently low water pressure and the potential ingestion of rust or corrosion particles, which can compromise the overall quality and safety of your household’s water supply.

We can replace your outdated plumbing systems with modern, more dependable piping. Our plumbing professionals work efficiently without ever sacrificing safety, service quality, or respect for your property.

How Do I Know If My Home Needs Repiping?

Identifying and addressing plumbing problems early saves you time, money, and stress. If you suspect your home’s plumbing system is failing or nearing the end of its lifespan, watch for several key warning signs. These indicators signal that your pipes are deteriorating and that repiping may be necessary. Remember, we offer free visual estimates, so we are happy to take a look at your piping and provide personalized advice.

Don’t wait to schedule a repiping consultation if you notice any of the following signs of trouble:

  • Discolored or rusty water. If the water from your faucets appears yellow, brown, or red, there is likely significant rust and corrosion inside your pipes.
  • Low water pressure. A noticeable drop in water pressure, especially when you use multiple fixtures simultaneously, often points to an internal pipe blockage. Corrosion and mineral scale build-up reduce the inner diameter of the pipes, restricting water flow throughout your house. In some cases, drain cleaning can eliminate clogs and restore the flow; however, if corrosion has advanced, repiping is likely necessary.
  • Frequent leaks or wet spots. Multiple recurring leaks, especially in the same spots, signal that the piping material is failing. We can also evaluate unexplained wet spots on walls, floors, or ceilings, which likely indicate hidden pipe failures.
  • Loud pipe noises. Banging, rattling, or thumping sounds when you turn on or off a faucet may indicate loose pipes or pressure fluctuations caused by obstructions. These noises often accompany failing plumbing systems. If repairs don’t resolve noise issues or the sounds get worse over time, your pipes are likely deteriorating.
  • Sudden temperature fluctuations: If turning on a toilet or washing machine causes your shower water to suddenly become scalding hot or freezing cold, your pipes may be failing and no longer able to handle the system’s demand.
  • Visible corrosion on exposed pipes. Look for greenish-blue patches or white, flaky build-ups near pipe joints or fittings. This external corrosion indicates chemical reactions are compromising the pipe material.

If you have any concerns about the state of your piping, call (916) 741-6799 or contact us online today.

As preparation for the summer heat we always have our HVAC unit serviced and inspected for any issues. After reading up on reviews, and receiving multiple quotes, we decided to go with Bud’s. The technicians found no issues and even helped me configure our Nest Thermostat. It turns out our home being older it is not equipped with a Common C-Wire. When the technicians left, our AC was blowing cold and strong. After a few days we realized water dripping and the AC going in and out. It turned out the Nest configuration was overworking the blower motor and it had gone out. I called Bud’s and asked them to come out and help us resolve the problem. Moana quickly responded and on the same day Axel showed up at our door with portable AC units while we waited for the part to come in. Although uncertain of the actual cause for the failure of the blower motor, Moana offered to cover the entire cost of the service and fortunately for us the part was still under warranty. Bud’s showed up when it mattered most and with no hesitation to show that they wanted nothing more than to help. My family and I could not be more impressed and grateful. Thank you for your efficient response and kindness you have shown our family. Highly recommend Bud’s for all your plumbing and HVAC needs.

Buds plumbing was amazing!! All staff is super friendly and easy to talk to. I was connected with Axel regarding my tankless water heater that was not working and ignitor coil needed to be replaced. Axel followed up with me like he said he would until part was received. The weekend was coming up and I was afraid I would have to wait till Monday to get hot water.. but Axel followed up with me like he said. It's nice to know you can count on someone 7 days a-week and to keep their word means a lot.

I've used this company since 2007 (Ibought my house in 2006) for all my plumbing issues. They were recommended to me by my neighbors and others who have been long standing clients, all who continue to be more than satisfied with their work.
